Dr. Thomas completed his residency at the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where he also completed his Child and Adolescent Fellowship. He was named Chief Fellow of his fellowship class, taking a more hands-on role in the administrative aspect of running an outpatient child mental health clinic.

His clinical roles include working as an attending at one of New York State’s busiest psychiatric emergency departments in Buffalo, New York, and as an inpatient attending at a state hospital working on the adolescent unit with kids for 60 to 90 days, if not longer. He also served as a psychiatric consultant to an outpatient pediatric clinic.

Dr. Thomas is passionate about working with children and youth, especially those of the LGBTQIA+ and different ethnic communities, along with their families, as they navigate the challenges of mental health. He is also experienced in medication management.
