Dr. Buchholz, Psychiatrist, comes to Bloom Health Centers with a passion in helping others who struggle with complex psychotic disorders. Dr Buchholz has many accolades he brings to Bloom Health Centers that supplement his experience. Dr Buchholz has received a completion with distinction from the Master Psychopharmacology program at Neuroscience Education Institute, In 2019, Dr. Buchholz received his postgraduate certificate in clinical toxicology from the University of Florida.

Professional Background and Expertise

Subsequently, Andrew received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science in biological sciences in 2006 from Rutgers University. Then in 2008 he received his MPH in environmental and occupational health from Drexel University. In 2013, Andrew completed medical school at Rowan University and received his DO. Finally, Dr Buchholz completed his residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, VA, practicing psychiatry in 2013-2017.

Dr Buchholz specifically works within General Adult Psychiatry with a particular focus in the management of complex psychotic disorders, advanced psychopharmacology and polypharmacy, substance use disorders, interface of medical and psychiatric disorders, and management of violent behaviors.

 

Andrew is  originally from New Jersey but has happily lived in Virginia for the last ten years. His hobbies include collecting art (particularly early- and mid-20th Century lithography), hiking, cooking, and spending time with his wife Allison and Jack Russell Terrier, Rocky.
