Professional Background and Expertise

Camara Capel (LCSW) is a licensed clinical social worker who practices as a psychotherapist here at Bloom. Camara primarily collaborates with patients in the Virginia area and serves a population of clients within a full life span. Camara earned her Bachelor's and Master of Social Work from the University of West Florida in 2017. Camara has had a wealth of experience from many states in the behavioral health industry. Mrs. Capel primarily collaborates with patients who are searching for general mental health guidance with their anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, Anger management, and developmental disorders.

Along with those Camara is prepared to guide and support patients who are experiencing struggles with life transitions, grief and loss, OCD, parenting issues, bipolar disorder, school issues, self-harming, and substance use. Through her experience and training, Camara has learned many techniques to support her clients through treatment approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment (ACT); Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy  (CBT); Compassion-Focused; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); Exposure Response Prevention (ERP); Mindfulness-Based (MBCT); Motivational Interviewing; Positive Psychology; Solution-Focused Brief (SFBT); Strengths-Based Therapy.

Camara describes how she entered this field with the intent of serving an underserved population and supporting those who need validation and often a voice. In her free time, she spends time with her teenage children. The Capel family is a military family, and she describes how she has gained many challenging, but priceless experiences through their journey. When she is not spending time with her family you can find Camara volunteering in the community, working out daily, paddle boarding, and thrifting.
